Our Beliefs

God is unfailingly committed to the holistic renewal of His creation. We believe that humans are invited into this restorative work through the Good News of the Gospel. It’s through this invitation that we find both salvation and vocation. At Untold, our vocation is lived out through our mission to embrace and equip people to live a life beyond AIDS. You can read our statement of faith and organizational belief anchors below.

Imago Dei

We believe that humans are made in the image of God and that each human, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or physical or intellectual ability, is an equal image-bearer. Practically, this means we embrace and equip people from all faith and life backgrounds in our work. We never withhold care, especially not on the basis of faith.

Ecumenicism

Our organization is inherently interdenominational. Our partner churches in Africa represent nearly 20 different denominations and we believe that this is an asset to our work and our lives as individuals. When matters of disagreement arise between denominations, our motto is this: in essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity.

Trinitarianism

We believe in one God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is one being who exists in three persons, without hierarchy. We believe that Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the Son and that the Holy Spirit invites us into relationship with the Triune God.

Belonging

When these three faith anchors are lived out in community, we can create a space where deep belonging is felt by clients, staff, and donors alike.
